Telangana Backs Telugu Culture In Mauritius
The Telangana government has pledged its full support to promote the Telugu language, culture and heritage in Mauritius. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka made the announcement during a meeting with a delegation from Mauritius in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Mauritius Delegation Meets Telangana Deputy CM
The delegation was led by Mauritius Minister for Public Service and Administrative Services Lachmuna Raj Pentiah. The meeting was held at the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, where both sides discussed cultural ties and ways to strengthen cooperation between Telangana and Mauritius.
Telangana Highlights Special Telugu Connection
Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana and Mauritius have maintained close and cordial relations for a long time. He also pointed to the common historical and cultural links between the two countries and the strong relationship between their people.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Telangana has a special connection with Mauritius through the Telugu language, culture and traditions.
Telugu Community An Important Part Of Mauritius
The Telangana government said the Telugu community in Mauritius is an important part of the country’s multicultural society. Telugu-speaking families in Mauritius have continued to preserve their language, traditions and cultural practices over generations.
The latest initiative aims to strengthen this connection and provide greater institutional support for preserving Telugu heritage outside India.
Support For Ram Bhajanam Programme
Bhatti Vikramarka assured the Mauritius delegation that the Telangana government would extend support to the Ram Bhajanam programme being undertaken by the Mauritius government.
The programme is among the cultural initiatives through which the Telugu community in Mauritius continues to preserve its traditions and strengthen its cultural identity.
Education And Language Research To Get Support
The Telangana government also offered assistance in several areas linked to Telugu culture. These include education, cultural research, arts, language and cultural development.
The proposed cooperation could help strengthen Telugu language learning and encourage research and cultural activities connected with the community in Mauritius.
Telugu Cultural Centre Preserves Heritage
The Mauritius minister told the Telangana delegation that lakhs of Telugu people living in Mauritius are working to preserve and promote their language, culture and traditions.
The community has been using the Telugu Cultural Centre in Mauritius as an important platform for cultural activities and efforts to keep the language and heritage alive.
Telugu Traditions Continue Overseas
The presence of a large Telugu community in Mauritius reflects the long history of Indian migration to the island nation. Over the years, communities originating from different parts of India have contributed to Mauritius’ multicultural identity.
For the Telugu community, language, religious practices, traditional arts and cultural programmes have played an important role in maintaining links with their ancestral heritage.
Telangana Looks To Strengthen Global Cultural Links
The latest initiative is also part of Telangana’s efforts to build stronger connections with Telugu-speaking communities outside India. Support for cultural programmes and language initiatives can help create greater interaction between institutions in Telangana and overseas Telugu organisations.
Such partnerships can also provide opportunities for students, researchers, artists and cultural groups to collaborate.
Mauritius Thanks Telangana Government
The Mauritius delegation expressed its gratitude to the Telangana government for its commitment to the Telugu community across the world. The delegation also appreciated the state’s efforts to promote Telugu language and culture globally.
Culture Becomes A Link Between Telangana And Mauritius
The initiative highlights how language and cultural heritage can strengthen relations between communities living thousands of kilometres apart. Telangana’s proposed support could give a further boost to cultural programmes in Mauritius while helping the younger generation remain connected with Telugu traditions.
The move also gives Telangana an opportunity to expand its cultural outreach through international Telugu communities.
A New Push For Telugu Heritage Abroad
The Telangana government’s commitment comes at a time when Indian states are increasingly engaging with diaspora communities to promote language, culture and heritage overseas.
For Mauritius’ Telugu community, support from Telangana could provide additional resources and institutional links for education, research, arts and cultural activities.
Telangana-Mauritius Cultural Ties
The meeting between the Telangana government and the Mauritius delegation has opened the door for closer cooperation on Telugu culture. With support promised in education, language, arts and research, the initiative could create a stronger cultural bridge between Telangana and the Telugu community in Mauritius.
The focus now will be on translating the commitment into programmes that help preserve Telugu language and traditions for future generations.
